Mode.NewratorThe File tab contains all the file input/output functions, split into these groups:The Lens File group contains all the normal Windows file management tasks like file opening, saving etc.OpticStudiofiles are stored in.ZMX or.ZOS format files, along with associated .CFG files that contain configuration settings, and.SESor .ZDA files that contain settings data for all windows that were open at the time the file was saved.The.ZDA file containssaved analysis data in addition to the settings information.The.SES file extension was used in older versions of Zemaxand OpticStudio, but is compatible with the current version. The Archive group lets you create and open OpticStudio Archive files. These are stored in .ZAR format, and contain allthe files needed to open the file on another computer with OpticStudio installed on it.All OpticStudio data, glass catalogs, coatings,CAD files, etc.files used bythe lens design are compressed into this single file so thatyoucan easily make backupsof the design as it progresses through the design process,or transfer the design to another machine. The Project Directory group provides standard Windows file management functionality tailored to the lens project files. For a complete description of the lens project feature, see Convert to Lens Project. The Export group provides access to all the export capabilities in OpticStudio, including exporting to ZMX,STEP,IGES,SAT and STL format CAD files, and exporting to DXF and IGES linework diagrams. The Zemax Black Box feature allows you to encrypt a range of surfaces in the lens data spreadsheet, which can be givento other OpticStudio users without revealing the details of the design itself. This lets you give fully ray-traceable files tocustomers,or to other colleagues on a need-to-know basis, that give exact results on raytrace but do not reveal the designprescription. The Encrypted Coatings feature is a similar capability for thin-film coatings, and allows the full prescription of a thin-filmcoating to be exported in an encrypted format that allows exact ray tracing without making the design itself available. The Export to Speos Lens System tool lets you create a reduced-order model of the cumrent optical system to be used ina Speos simulation. The generated model includes the relevant parameters of the optical system to enable accurate opticalsensor simulation in a realistic environment. The Export to PanDao tool creates a .JSON file for use by the PanDao toolset(https://pandao.ch/),to help assess theimpact of lens fabrication methods on cost and performance. The Convert group lets you convert between OpticStudio Sequential and Non-Sequential Modes, and also convertsvarious file formats(like.MAT Matlab,.INTinterferometer data and .f3dOptiWave data)betweenoriginal and OpticStudiofomats. You can also save all you project files to a project directory and package your system into an OpticsBuilder ZBDfile.Release 2024 RI-Ansys,Inc.Allrights file unchanged. You can save a ZMX,ZOS,ZAR,or ZPRJ file. All OpticStudio lens data is stored in a ZMX or ZOS file including lens project settings if the file isset as a lens project.Note that ZAR files include catalogand user-defined data, and ZPRJ is specially designed tocontain a lens project with all the linked project files. This Lens File Group Tool is found only in Sequential Ul Mode.Release
